Hong Kong police arrest 58 in anti-triad operation targeting youth exploitation

Briefing by News4U · First published

Hong Kong police arrested 58 people in an operation across the city against triad networks that exploit young people, RTHK reported. Those detained included alleged core gang members and people under 18. Suspected offences include professing triad membership, recruiting members, unlawful detention and laundering money. Chief inspector Chan Pak-ki said undercover infiltration preceded the arrests. She said gangs built trust with young people before enticing them into illegal activity with promises of easy earnings. Police also raided illicit gambling and drug premises. The operation remained underway, with further arrests possible. [1]
