Alibaba's Joe Tsai argues open-source AI is key to wider access
Briefing by News4U · First published
Alibaba chairman Joe Tsai said open-source AI was essential to making the technology widely accessible, ITHome reported, citing his remarks at the World Internet Conference opening in Wuzhen. Tsai said AI demand continued to grow while computing capacity remained in short supply, and argued that open models lower research and development costs for smaller businesses, particularly in developing countries. He said Alibaba's Qwen family had released more than 470 open-source models, with over 4 billion cumulative downloads and more than 330,000 derivative models. [1]
