Herzog accepts Israel election results, starts coalition talks
Briefing by News4U · First published
Yesterday Isaac Herzog said that the elections are over and now is the time to face reality. Israel’s president accepted the certified results of last week’s parliamentary vote and began consultations with party leaders on who should form the next government, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition and Gadi Eisenkot’s bloc both fell short of 61 seats. Herzog urged both camps to compromise to avoid another election and said he asks for originality, creativity, courage and goodwill so that the State of Israel emerges the winner. He also condemned recent coarseness and racist expressions toward Israel’s Palestinian minority. [1]
