Briefing by News4U · First published

Germany’s IG Metall union expanded strikes on Monday in a wage dispute affecting about 3.7 million employees in the metal and electrical engineering industries, Al Jazeera reported. Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Tata Steel were among the manufacturers affected. The union is seeking a 5% pay rise, measures to protect jobs and production sites, and profit sharing in strongly performing sectors. It rejected the employers’ offer as a real-terms pay cut. Further strikes are expected during the week. [1]
