DoorDash to buy Instacart for about $17 billion

Briefing by News4U · First published

DoorDash said it is buying Instacart in a deal valued at approximately $17 billion, seeking a larger online grocery presence through Instacart’s marketplace and retailer partnerships. Instacart CEO Chris Rogers said the deal would make online grocery more seamless and affordable for millions of households. DoorDash said Instacart users would gain access to more than 50,000 additional stores and that DashPass and Instacart Plus members could pay one membership fee instead of two. The companies expect the deal to close in the end of 2027 or the first half of 2028, subject to regulatory approvals, and plan to keep Instacart’s brand and app separate rather than merge into one platform.
