Briefing by News4U · First published
New Zealand faces a weeks-long wait for the shape of its next government after an election too close to call. With nearly 100% of regular votes counted, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's National party won 42 seats, Act 13 and New Zealand First 12, a combined 67. Official results are due on 27 November after special votes are counted. National pipped Labour by 0.02% in the party vote. Labour won 35 seats, the Greens 16 and Te Pāti Māori five, while newcomer Opportunity took seven seats with 5.9% support. Luxon said the results were "too close to call" and that caretaker conventions would apply. [1]
