Thousands rally in Tel Aviv for Eisenkot-Arab deal to oust Netanyahu

Briefing by News4U · First published

Thousands of people rallied in Tel Aviv on Saturday to urge Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot to strike a deal with Arab parties to remove Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Al Jazeera reported, citing AFP. Protesters told AFP it may be the "last chance for real change". Netanyahu's bloc won 53 seats and Eisenkot's 48 in Tuesday's vote for the 120-seat parliament, while three Arab-led parties won 19 seats; nearly 840,000 people voted for Ra'am and the Joint List, a 64 percent rise from 2022, according to the Central Election Committee, which would give an Eisenkot-Arab coalition a majority of 67. Counter-protesters demanded that Israel should not have a government with "so-called terrorists". [1]
