Briefing by News4U · First published

Today Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, in remarks posted by his office on X, that Diwali in 2026 is truly special because it is the first after the country won its decades-old fight against Naxalite-Maoist terror, the first in which every district is free of Naxalism, and the first in which crores of people have overcome fear of the insurgency. His office also quoted him as saying that, for the first time in 47 years, no Central Reserve Police Force personnel lost their life on duty over the past year, calling that a victory for the country's policies and resolve.
