Briefing by News4U · First published
Polish police entered the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw on Friday after incidents outside the court, including objects thrown at police, following the announcement that court head Bogdan Swieczkowski had been suspended, Al Jazeera reported. Police said they detained three people after some in the crowd launched dangerous projectiles. Justice Minister Waldemar Zurek said he had requested that Swieczkowski and his deputy's immunity be lifted for preventing majority-elected judges from working. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said restoring the rule of law is the government's duty after years of lawlessness under PiS. PiS-allied President Karol Nawrocki turned his plane around en route to Senegal, saying at a moment like this the president must be in Poland. [1]
