Briefing by News4U · First published
The Guardian reported that the UK has agreed to begin a “structured dialogue” within the next 12 months with Caribbean nations affected by the slave trade and its legacy, according to Commonwealth leaders at the heads of government meeting. Antigua and Barbuda’s prime minister Gaston Browne said there was a “consensus” on a way forward and that the dialogue framework should be established by the end of this year or early next year. Browne praised UK prime minister Andy Burnham for being assertive on the issue and said Caribbean nations would not make “unreasonable demands”. [1]
