Qatar's emir and Iran's president discuss energy cooperation in Moscow
Briefing by News4U · First published
Al Jazeera reports that Iranian state media described a Moscow meeting between Qatar's emir and Iran's president focused on bilateral ties and energy cooperation.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Moscow, according to Iranian state media cited by Al Jazeera. The leaders reviewed bilateral relations and discussed expanding energy cooperation. [1]
The account did not mention discussion of the US-Israel war on Iran. Al Jazeera noted Qatar's involvement in mediation efforts, but the report did not describe a war-related agreement emerging from this meeting. The reported energy discussions should therefore not be read as confirmation of a diplomatic breakthrough. [1]
