CHIRLA filing challenges accuracy of California 'non-citizen' voter list
Briefing by News4U · First published
Immigrant-rights group CHIRLA submitted a UCLA analysis to a court on Saturday challenging a federal list of 20,930 alleged non-citizen voters in California, Al Jazeera reported. Researchers said 8,880 names, or 42 percent of the list, were absent from the state's current voter files. They also said many other entries were confirmed US citizens or possible matches to citizens. CHIRLA argued that the errors threatened eligible voters' rights. The list underpins the administration's effort to have associated ballots set aside; the new development is the submitted analysis, rather than a new court ruling. [1]
