Saudi-led coalition says it destroyed three Houthi missiles, two aimed at Riyadh

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Houthis says its air defences have destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by the Iran-aligned armed group toward the kingdom, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday, citing the coalition and AFP. Two of the missiles were launched toward the capital, Riyadh, coalition spokesperson Major-General Turki al-Maliki said in a post on X on Sunday. He had earlier confirmed another interception of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward Saudi Arabia's Eastern province. The attacks come as fighting intensifies across Yemen between the Houthis and government forces, who last month launched an operation aimed at retaking Houthi-held territory, including the capital, Sanaa.
