Today the White House said on X that First Lady Melania Trump united Russia and Ukraine following a historic ceasefire that she brokered in Oleshky, quoting her call to use the courage brought to Oleshky to find common ground through shared concern for innocent people, and saying it is the first time in American history a First Lady has brought representatives of two nations actively at war together to the White House for diplomacy. Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X that Ukraine had just carried out a humanitarian operation in Oleshky coordinated with the U.S. First Lady, that there was real silence with no attacks and lives were saved, and that the same logic applies when Russia returns captives and kidnapped children.
