Kallas says Brussels still traumatised by Brexit as UK seeks closer defence ties
Briefing by News4U · First published
Today EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said after meeting UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting in Brussels that there are still a lot of traumatised people in Brussels over Brexit and that talks on a deeper relationship will be difficult and are not there yet. Euronews reported she urged the UK to focus in the short term on joining existing EU defence frameworks and to deepen ties step by step rather than opening negotiations on rejoining the bloc. [1] [2]
