Italian foreign minister says hackers targeting him over Ukraine stance

Briefing by News4U · First published

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Saturday that he was being targeted by hackers over Italy's support for Ukraine. In a social media post, Tajani said "cybercriminals" had been sharing his personal data on the dark web over a number of days and were seeking further information, exposing him and his family to new threats and intimidation. He wrote that Italy's stance on Ukraine was the political reason for the attacks. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni released a Saturday statement backing Tajani, saying the sale of confidential information concerning public officials must be tackled with the utmost determination.
