Hackers raise temperatures at French blood service cold stores
Briefing by News4U · First published
France’s national blood service (EFS) said hackers accessed control systems and boosted temperatures at three cold stores stocking vital blood products, raising temperature and defrosting thresholds to “very high levels,” The Guardian reported. EFS said the attack occurred overnight on Monday and that alarm systems let technicians intervene before products were compromised; it supplies blood products to more than 1,900 hospitals. Euronews reported EFS said no health consequences were identified and no blood products were lost after alarms flagged anomalies at three plasma cold-storage sites, amid a wider European wave of refrigeration cyber-attacks.
