Supreme Court rejects Trump bid to set aside 20,000 California midterm ballots
Briefing by News4U · First published
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled against the Trump administration's attempt to force California election officials to segregate and not count ballots from about 20,000 people the Justice Department claims are noncitizens. The decision came hours after the administration filed an emergency request and a day before the midterm elections. It followed lower-court rulings that had already sided with California officials, who argued the federal list was unreliable and that creating a system to separate ballots while voting was already underway was infeasible.
