Standard Chartered CEO says retraining can ease fears over AI and jobs
Briefing by News4U · First published
Standard Chartered chief executive Bill Winters said appropriate reskilling and training could ease employees' fears about artificial intelligence, ITHome reported, citing his remarks at Tuesday's Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit in Hong Kong. He said the bank has about 100,000 employees, roughly the same as when he joined 11 years ago. Automation had eliminated about 25,000 roles during that period, but other jobs had been created. Winters said the bank was willing to train employees to develop their capabilities and could also attract new recruits if some staff chose to leave. [1]
