US urges China to honour Busan trade deal commitments
Briefing by News4U · First published
United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer met Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng to urge Beijing to immediately implement commitments under the Busan trade agreement, Al Jazeera reported, citing a US Treasury statement. Bessent emphasised that China fully and immediately implement its Busan commitments, raised concerns about recent Chinese actions, and said continued progress depends on concrete results that Washington will closely assess. On Thursday, Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson Huang Ling said China is open to expanding US farm-goods purchases only if both sides implement their agreed "30 billion for 30 billion" reciprocal tariff-reduction arrangement.
