North Korea’s Missile Administration tested a cluster-bomb warhead meant for tactical ballistic missiles on Saturday to assess combat adaptation and power, state media KCNA said, according to Yonhap News Agency. Gen. Kim Jong-sik oversaw the test. Research institutes under the Missile Administration said the Standard Type 2 cluster-bomb warhead can turn a target area of 12 to 13 hectares into ashes at its highest-density power. The general director said cluster bomb warheads are classified into four categories depending on their purposes and that within this year units will be able to select and use all those types according to operational aims and specific features of targets.
