Briefing by News4U · First published

ZTE is discussing a handset-business partnership with an unnamed internet company, ITHome reported, citing Leiphone and an employee at a related company. The proposal would package ZTE's consumer handset operations into a joint venture with the internet company and Shanghai state-owned capital. The internet company reportedly proposes investing about 8 billion yuan, while ZTE seeks a business valuation of about 40 billion yuan. Final valuation, ownership stakes and transaction structure remain under discussion. The package would cover domestic and overseas handset operations, excluding Redmagic; router and home-terminal operations might return to the group. [1]
