The leader of a Kenyan doomsday sect, Paul Mackenzie, has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for the murders of 190 children and one adult, one of the world’s worst cult disasters in recent history. The Mombasa court split the term into 100 years for murder by starvation and 100 years for direct homicide, two weeks after finding him guilty. Prosecutors said Mackenzie’s Good News International church ordered members to starve themselves and their children to death to reach heaven before the world ended. [1] [2]
