South Korea Sept industrial output jumps 3 pct, fastest in 15 years

According to Yonhap Business, South Korea's industrial output rose 3 percent on-month in September, the fastest pace since March 2011, led by a 19.2 percent jump in semiconductor production and a 39.9 percent surge in automobile output. Retail sales increased 3.6 percent and facility investment gained 5.3 percent, marking the first simultaneous rise in the three indicators since June. The Ministry of Finance and Economy said output is expected to maintain an upward trend despite risks from high oil prices, global rate hikes and U.S. midterm election uncertainties. [1]
