Democrats plan to repeal Trump tariffs on Canada after Republican losses
Briefing by News4U · First published
CBC World reports that Democrats plan to repeal tariffs on Canada after Republicans distanced themselves from the trade war and lost seats in the 2026 midterms. Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said there is overwhelming support for repealing the tariffs, and Democrats believe they can override a veto. Michigan Sen.-elect Abdul El-Sayed called ending the tariffs a legislative priority. Trump lifted some tariffs on Maine and Kansas goods before the elections, but those moves did not save Republican candidates. [1]
