Microsoft unveils MAI-Image-2.7-Preview, ranks second in image editing

Microsoft released MAI-Image-2.7-Preview on 27 October, claiming second place on Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard behind OpenAI.
ITHome reported that Microsoft announced MAI-Image-2.7-Preview on 27 October, stating it is now the world’s second-ranked image-editing model on Artificial Analysis, behind OpenAI’s GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst (max). [1]
The model accepts an existing image plus text instructions and focuses on complex edits such as style changes, relighting, text modification and repair. It is currently available only in preview on Arena, Artificial Analysis and MAI Playground; text-to-image generation is planned but not yet offered. [1]
