Samsung posts record $80.5 billion quarterly profit on AI chips

Briefing by News4U · First published

Samsung Electronics posted record July-September operating profit of 107.4 trillion won ($80.5 billion), up more than 780 percent year-on-year, with semiconductor profit at 106.5 trillion won, as AI-driven demand for high-bandwidth memory chips outstripped supply. Net profit rose over 510 percent to 75.1 trillion won and sales reached 195.3 trillion won. Shares fell as much as 6.2 percent after the company gave a more cautious view than rival SK Hynix on how long the shortage would last, projecting tightness until 2028, and deferred its next shareholder-return policy until January.
