Binance hit by record $6.3B hack, links to North Korea
Briefing by News4U · First published
Binance confirmed a $6.3 billion hack on Thursday, the largest cryptocurrency theft on record, with blockchain firms TRM Labs and Chainalysis attributing the attack to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group. The exchange froze about $3 billion in affected assets with partners and suspended withdrawals, later saying deposits remain unaffected and will resume within a day or two. Binance stated it has set aside more than $6.34 billion in company funds, including $5 billion already held in the exact stolen tokens, and is buying additional tokens to cover the rest.
