Beijing blocks bulk import of 600,000 Nvidia H200 chips held in Hong Kong
Briefing by News4U · First published
RFI Chinese reports that about 600,000 Nvidia H200 chips remain in Hong Kong awaiting Beijing’s approval for large-scale import into mainland China. The chips are stored in Hong Kong because Beijing has not approved their bulk entry into mainland China, even though Chinese tech firms need advanced AI computing power. Some smaller shipments of around 10,000 chips each have reached major internet companies in recent months through indirect channels, but large-scale imports remain blocked. [1]
