The 700 km line, part of the Beijing-Kunming corridor, runs from Chongqing West via Sichuan and Guizhou to Kunming South at a design speed of 350 km/h. The Chongqing-Yibin section opened in September 2024; the Yibin-Kunming section is still under construction. [2]

With track work finished, static acceptance and joint commissioning will begin; the line is expected to open in the first half of 2027, cutting Chongqing-Kunming travel to about two-and-a-half hours. [2]
