Democrat Sherrod Brown defeats Republican Jon Husted in Ohio Senate race
Briefing by News4U · First published
Democrat Sherrod Brown defeated Republican incumbent Jon Husted in Ohio’s special Senate election, returning to the chamber he lost in 2024. The race, one of the most expensive this cycle with more than $450 million spent, was viewed as a key test for Senate control. Brown campaigned on lowering living costs and opposing Trump’s Iran war, tariffs and data-center expansion; Husted backed those policies after being appointed in 2025 to finish JD Vance’s term. Brown will serve until 2028. [1] [2]
