Disney plans thousands of layoffs and 20% cost cuts
Briefing by News4U · First published
Walt Disney is considering thousands of job cuts and has asked some managers to target 20% annual cost savings, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. CEO Josh D'Amaro is navigating challenges including AI use, weaker box office revenue, streaming competition and slower international theme-park attendance. Some operations will bear a larger share of the cuts, and D'Amaro aims to reinvest part of the savings into film, TV, technology, theme parks and cruises. Disney employed about 231,000 people at the end of fiscal 2025 and has cut jobs in recent years to improve profitability. [1] [2] [3]
