Binance, Polymarket propose Polygon hard fork to recover $6.8M stolen POL
Briefing by News4U · First published
Cointelegraph reported that Binance and Polymarket have proposed a Polygon network hard fork to recover 70.49 million POL tokens, valued at about $6.8 million, stolen in separate security incidents. The plan would remove 23.86 million POL linked to the Polymarket hack and 46.63 million POL tied to the Binance hack from five attacker-controlled addresses and transfer them to verified recovery wallets, without altering POL’s total supply. Polygon block producers have already frozen transactions from the affected addresses, but the proposal states these temporary restrictions cannot return the funds. The proposal requires governance approval and testing on the Amoy testnet before activation, with discussion scheduled for Nov. 5. [1]
