China renewable capacity hits 2.518 billion kW, 71.7% of new installs

China’s National Energy Administration reported that renewable power capacity reached 2.518 billion kW by end-September, up 14.6% year-on-year and 60.94% of total installed capacity, with photovoltaic now the largest single source. Renewables added 180 million kW in the first three quarters, accounting for 71.7% of all new capacity, while renewable generation rose 8% to 3.13 trillion kWh, or 41.8% of total output. [1] [2]
