Japan's JIC plans to sell JSR to Mitsui Chemicals for over 1.3 trillion yen

Briefing by News4U · First published

Japan's government-backed Japan Investment Corporation (JIC) plans to sell semiconductor materials manufacturer JSR to Mitsui Chemicals in a deal that may exceed 1.3 trillion yen ($8.2 billion), with a decision possible this month, according to two unnamed sources. JIC acquired JSR two years ago for about 900 billion yen to consolidate the semiconductor materials sector. JSR, founded in 1957, is a leading global photoresist maker, while Mitsui Chemicals, with a market value of about 800 billion yen, is also expanding its chip materials business. The transaction could be one of Japan's largest in the chemicals industry. [1] [2]
