EU €2 fee on cheap parcels from Shein, Temu may raise €6bn

Briefing by News4U · First published

RTÉ Business reported that EU fees on cheap e-commerce parcels, mainly from China, could raise €6 billion a year for the EU budget from 2028 to 2034, according to a Commission document. The bloc will impose an additional €2 fee on parcels under €150 from November 1, after a €3 charge began in July. Last year, 5.8 billion such parcels entered the EU, up 26%. Temu’s owner PDD Holdings warned of a considerable impact, while Shein, which earns about a third of its revenue in Europe, has already raised prices. AliExpress said the fees would hurt low-income households. [1]
