Democrat Adam Hamilton defeats Roger Marshall to win Kansas Senate seat
Briefing by News4U · First published
Democrat Adam Hamilton defeated Republican incumbent Roger Marshall to win the US Senate seat in Kansas, becoming the first Democrat to represent the state in the chamber since 1932. The race, rated a toss-up by the Cook Political Report, was the most expensive in state history at $110 million. Hamilton, a Methodist pastor who leads the largest United Methodist congregation in the country, campaigned on affordability and bipartisan appeal. Marshall, a physician and Trump supporter, faced criticism over a New York Times report that he had sued about 700 former patients for unpaid medical bills. Trump rallied for Marshall in late October, but Hamilton prevailed in the closely watched contest. [1] [2]
