Sony unveils visual-language-model driver takeover alerts at CIIE

ITHome reported that on 5 November 2026 Sony China unveiled the world’s first visual-language-model driver takeover warning system at the China International Import Expo, using VLM analysis of forward road images to issue three-tier alerts when conditions approach or exceed the operating design domain; the system was developed with digital-twin simulation data and is undergoing real-road tests with Tsinghua University’s automotive engineering school in Suzhou’s Xiangcheng district.
