Iran says seven oil tankers were struck overnight in the Strait of Hormuz, four by missiles and three by mines, and warns the US of wider attacks if it continues escorting vessels.
Al Jazeera reported that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said seven oil tankers were struck in the Strait of Hormuz overnight, four while transferring oil and three after striking mines, marking the largest single-day toll since the US and Israel began their war against Iran on February 28. The IRGC warned that if the US continues escorting tankers, “the conflict will extend to its bases in the region.” US Central Command called the mine claims incorrect, stating forces have cleared lanes and that 95 percent of vessels are getting through. [1]
